Account book, 1851-1852.

This account book, kept by Clark, records weekly receipts and expenditures on behalf of the proprietors of the printing office for the period 25 July 1851 to 12 January 1852. The receipts recorded include subscriptions, as well as jobs done (e.g., cards, tax bills, catalogues, handbills, ads). The expenses include salaries, as well as materials necessary for printing (e.g, cards, rollers, oil, paper, gold leaf, envelopes) and for running a printing office (e.g., rent, coal, gas). The volume also contains a duplicate of an agreement to publish advertisements for A. L. Scavill & Co., of New York, dated 11 November 1851. There is also a short list of names and addresses.

The _Quincy Patriot_ was a weekly newspaper published in Quincy, Mass., from 1837 to 1915. In 1851, John Adams Green (1814-1861) sold the paper to Gideon French Thayer (1793-1855) and Charles White. Thayer and White were the proprietors of the paper until 1852, when White became its sole proprietor. In 1853, Green bought the paper back.
